What’s On at T47

Nam the ManWe’ve been open for almost two weeks now and already there are almost 50 football teams playing in leagues at our London Bridge venue.  There are also plenty of hirers using the centre.

Last week King’s College London held its Fresher’s Sports Day, attended by over 200 enthusiastic students, who played netball, basketball and dodgeball.  Although football and netball will always be at the heart of what we do, it was great to see more sports (well, dodgeball is almost a sport!) being played.

Over the next few weeks we will be adding several new activities, including pool, table tennis and:

  • Dodgeball Taster sessions from 1st October more
  • Archery Open sessions from 20th October more
  • Kids Football Academy Half Term Course with European Freestyle Champion Nam the Man (above left) more

Let the fun begin …

DSC03130Ok, we realise that this is exciting only to us at Top Corner, but we had our first matches at the new T47 venue at London Bridge on Wednesday 09.09.09.

Barclays Global (pictured) were our first-ever customers.  From next week we are going to be very busy, with most of the evening pitch time hired on all 3 courts, and leagues getting under way.

At the moment we can offer football and 5-a-side netball, with table tennis and archery coming very soon.  Players should enter from Weston Street as the St Thomas Street main entrance will be under construction for some weeks yet.

We're ready to go …

The ATAK pitches go down

Pitch 2 goes down ...

Work started at 6 AM this morning, and by lunchtime two pitches were already installed at our new London Bridge sports venue, T47.  The US-manufactured ATAK plastic tile system is amazingly quick to put in.

And not a moment too soon … our first customers, Barclays Global will play on pitch 1 at 6 PM tomorrow evening.

Any of our bookers who would like to drop in for a visit should call up – we’d be happy to arrange a viewing.

T47 Build Nears Completion …

The changing rooms take shape ...

The changing rooms take shape ...

Against all the odds, our amazing team of builders have just about completed the job.  Rebound boards and nets are going in this weekend, and finally the pitches will be installed on Monday and Tuesday next week.

The pitch surface, which was specially manufactured in the US, has given us the most sleepless nights.  It was due to arrive in London early this week, but when the ship docked, the container was nowhere to be found!  After a frantic few hours, Mark Dalton of Game Solutions called us to say that it was inexplicably on another boat, still in the Atlantic.  This held up our planned opening on Monday 7th.

Instead, our first customers will play next Wednesday – on the evocative date of 09/09/09.

Ready for the pitches ... when they arrive!
