African sports charity Alive & Kicking is hosting a special screening of the England vs. Algeria match (18th June – 7:30KO) at T47’s incredible Tunnel Bar to celebrate the first World Cup on African soil.
It’s only £5 entry to watch the game on a big screen with unrestricted views and plenty of space – tickets include entrance into a World Cup raffle with great prizes, including a signed Chelsea shirt, signed Michael Owen ball, Chelsea tickets, Wembley tickets and more. All proceeds go to charity.
Make an occasion of it by playing in Alive & Kicking’s charity tournament before the big match from 5:30pm for only £20 per player. This price gets you entry into the tournament, match screening and raffle.
Each player gets a free beer after the tournament too! Come down and help Alive & Kicking create a lasting legacy to the World Cup.
To reserve a place at the screening or register a team please contact Chris Roe on chris.roe@aliveandkicking.org.uk or by mobile on 07833-693-788. Alternatively log on to our Facebook group (www.facebook.com/ballsforafrica) and click on Events. If you join us on Facebook there’s also the chance to win one of our handmade African balls.
Alive & Kicking runs not‐for‐profit factories in Zambia and Kenya to make balls for children who have never played with a real ball. The charity has created over 150 jobs for previously unemployed adults in Africa and have reached over 40,000 children in with our HIV/AIDS campaign. See www.aliveandkicking.org.uk
The Tunnel Bar will be hosting all of the other World Cup games, usually without an entry charge.

At long last we’ve managed to get a space on the site especially for our youth sport projects! You can visit the Community section by clicking on the “Community Blog” link to the right.
This section will be run by youth workers and young people who are involved with the various Top Corner schemes. Already featured are:
Hub Athletic – An inspiring video report by Tim Broadbent of how Top Corner’s support of this scheme has helped several young people to travel to South Africa.
Kids Company – As Hayley Watson reports, this charity has had free use of our facilities at T47 London Bridge for several months, as well as benefiting from £1400 raised at the venue launch night.
Paradise Park – the first report from coach Mus about our kids scheme at our Islington venue.
You can see these stories here.

T47 London Bridge
Dodgeball Event for fun-lovin’ singles!
£17.50 per person. Book at www.dodgeballuk.com
There’s no reason we need to be shackled by the strictures of the employee-employer relationship, Kate. Unless you’re into that sort of thing. In which case, I got some shackles in the back. I’m just kidding. But seriously, I’ve got ‘em.
- White Goodman
Not every dodgeball playing guy is as freaky-crazy as White Goodman was in the movie, and not every female dodgeballer is a Fran Stalinofskivichdavidovitchsky lookalike (though we can live in hope!) Dodgeball UK’s “Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and… DATE!” event is a light-hearted bit of fun where you can come on your own or with single mates, have a laugh, and meet some other fun-lovin’ non coupled-up people. Here’s what you can expect:

This June we are launching the London Bridge Ping Pong league.
To be held on Monday evenings, the league will put the emphasis on fun competition rather than on super-serious play. Teams of 3 will take each other on weekly, with each player getting 3 singles and 3 doubles games per night. The aggregate score of the games played each evening will determine the winner of the match.
Matches start at 6.30, 7.10 or 7.50 each week.
After a league of 5 weeks, we’ll play a night of ’round the table’ ping pong with the YOI. 12 players take turns to have a shot … miss and you lose a life! The winner gets a free drink from the bar.
Sign up for the league here.

We had a fantastic evening at T47 London Bridge on Monday with table tennis being played on six tables. Present at the event were English no 2 player Darius Knight and current and former internationals, Chris Lewis, James Kirk and Glenda Ashison, along with coach Gideon Ashison.
We had some fantastic exhibition play (left) but by the end of the evening everyone was just enjoying the game – elite players hitting with ordinary mortals. The picture below was taken to celebrate the launch of the club.

:: VIEW PHOTO’S FROM 2010′S BROADCAST FIVES ::
:: ENTER A MEN’S TEAM AT 2011′S BROADCAST FIVES & GET 50% OFF ENTRY FOR A WOMEN’S TEAM ::
2010 saw the ninth straight year that Broadcast Fives has been thrilling the industry and raising money for charity – once again The Vision Charity were beneficiaries, and this year they entered two teams into the men’s competition too.

Men’s Cup Champs Chapman Entertainment flanked by Herbert and Larry from Vision

Women’s Cup Champs WFTV
The norm for Broadcast Fives is sun, sun, sun, so this year’s cold and (some) rain came as a bit of a shock. We’ll see if we can’t put this right for next year! Actually the date for next year has been fixed (it’s 21st May 2011) and it is a couple of weeks further on, so maybe the weather will be a bit better. We are also offering 50% discount for women’s teams at the 2011 event when applying along with a men’s team from the same firm – apply now to take advantage of this great offer and be sure of your team’s place next year. All the information is online now, so don’t miss out…
We would of course like to thank everyone from the industry who turned out on the day – your support for this event is what makes it the success that it is, and your efforts have helped raise upwards of £100,000 for charity over the years. Thank you!
