Thursday 17th March 2011 saw Top Corner hosted its third successive awards evening for football and netball league winners, runners up and the individual players that made all the difference as top goal scorer or player of the season.
The evening was dedicated to those teams that had won or were runners up in the Autumn 2010 season. As expected it was a great turn out by footballers and netballers alike, with celebrations in full flow throughout the course of the evening.
“It was another brilliant evening and teams loved being cheered on and applauded when receiving awards, the live music is also a big hit” said netball league manager and co host Jen Hart.
“We are thoroughly looking forward to hosting the next event on Thursday 31st March and expect it to be the biggest to date” commented football league manager and co host Raj Pahal
To be involved in a Top Corner Awards night, you must either win or finish second in your respective league or tournament or finish as top scorer or player of the season. Top Corner will then send you an official invite to the next scheduled evening.

Every Saturday we hold drop-in football sessions at London Bridge. It starts at 11 AM and we play for an hour.
The pitches are indoors at T47, London’s coolest new venue. No need to bring a ball; no need to be a great player; just come along! We’re expecting a lot of demand for this, so please book in advance if you want to be sure of a place. Otherwise it will be first come, first served.
All you need is your trainers and shin pads. We’ll organise everyone into teams and away we go. It’s a casual, social fun session where you can meet people, make friends and get into playing football. Oh, and get fit …
There are men’s and women’s sessions with a ref for each, mainly to pick the teams and make sure everyone enjoys the game. Remember: you don’t need to be any good. That’s not what it’s about. Afterwards, why not see who wants to have lunch down at Borough Market or Bermondsey Street? Read the rest of this entry »

From February 2011 T47 at London Bridge will be playing host to a new open-entry 5-a-side tournament – the Fives Friday City Challenge is your chance to pit your team’s skills against those of like-minded teams from other City firms in friendly yet competitive matches. The tournament will then take place each month, so if you like it you can simply enter for the following month!
The number of places available to take part will be imited and we have kept the cost of entry low – it will normally be £100 per team but for this first challenge entry will be 25% off, so just £75 per team. While the matches will be 5-a
-side, each team can bring along up to 3 substitutes, so you can have 8 players in total on the day. The tournament will last three hours and will include a group stage followed by knockout matches for the top teams. There will be qualified referees, and trophies for the winners – there will be a presentation in the T47 bar after the games.
Friday 4th February, 17.00-20.00
You can sign up for any simply by clicking through on the date above – then all you need to do is get your team in training ready for the big day…
More info on the Fives Friday City Challenge is available by emailing Andy, or calling him on 020 7036 9917.

T47 is the perfect venue to host a post-Christmas sports tournament – the three indoor pitches are never going to be affected by the weather and the central location at London Bridge is perfect for an evening event after work.
Events manager Andy has been hosting superb 5-a-side football and high five netball tournaments at T47 since the venue opened in 2009. In fact some tournaments have been including both football and netball, while others have had up to five different sports in the same competition. The feedback from these tournaments has been great – why not give your colleagues a company event to look forward to after Christmas that also includes the chance to keep fit that we’ll all be thinking about come January?

Brilliant value team-building exercises and excellent fun into the bargain.
There are limited dates still available in January and February – if you would like to reserve a date, discuss a tournament format or another question just email Andy or call him on 020 7036 9917.

Play football, basketball, netball and volleyball. In the dark. At the same time.
Brought to you by the guys who gave us Survivor Sports, Riotball involves a huge glow-in-the-dark ball, two teams distinguished by their glowing wristbands, and targets instead of goals. We play in the dark, with short high-intensity rounds and thumping beats.
Because it’s so different, everybody’s on the same level, so everyone gets involved. It’s a non-contact sport – we’re playing the ginormous glowing ball, not the player.
We’ll mix people up into teams of six, with six teams playing as many 10-minute rounds as we can fit in the two-hour session. During your breaks try to catch your breath, hang out at the bar, or watch the fun.
This is going to be a riot.
Get your tickets (in advance only) from http://fire-hazard.net/events/40 – use code T47 for a discount!

T47 London Bridge played host to a 5-a-side game as big as they come today – it was England v Germany! While there was no Gazza, no Pearce and (thankfully?!) no penalty shoot-out, there was a full-blooded game with no quarter asked and none given. 125-cap record-holder Peter Shilton coached the England team, while 1982-Euro-Championship-final-winning-goalscorer Horst Hrubesch managed the Germans.
Holiday Inn had run a competition to find the players to take part and as well as assembling a crack squad to represent England they had also flown in the German squad, who arrived apparently a little the worse the wear, having been out in London last night putting the finishing touches to their pre-match preparations.
So, look away now if you don’t want to know the score…
The match finished 8-4 to Germany, with England conceding a couple of very early goals and facing an uphill struggle from there (to their credit, they did make a decent fight of it!). The Germans were too strong though and weren’t going to let their lead slip, and took the Holiday Inn Ultimate England v Germany Rematch title, before heading to celebrate in the T47 bar and from there off to the airport. (This is one area that the England team DID triumph in though - they are still in the bar ‘debriefing’ as I type…)
T47 is available to hire for all sorts of events – email Andy or give him a call on 020 7036 9917 if you’re interested in holding your event here.
