FC Tridocs took the London Legal 5-a-side Premiership Spring 2010 title by beating TheLawyer.com 2-0 and in doing so let Twobirds steal second place after their 4-1 win over Travers Smith which leapfrogged them over TheLawyercom. Both FC Triddocs and Twobirds have qualified for Champions Cup . Team Ice Cream came 4th in what was a very close league between the top 4 and Travers Smith and Beachcroft found themselves relegated to the Championship.

Replacing Travers Smith and Beachcroft in the Premiership are Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge and Judfield Wednesday. Both teams went into the last day of the season knowing that they were promoted but were both joint on points and goal difference so the title was up for grabs. Edwards ran out 2-0 winners over Sheds Invitational while Judfeild Wednesday were beaten 2-1 by Taylor Wesing FC who came 3rd in the league. The Big Daddies came 4th with AFC Haircuts 5th and Sheds Invitational bottom.

In the individual awards Hugo Bowkett (Team Ice Cream) received the Premierships Golden Boot after scoring 8 in 10 games. The Championships Golden Boot was taken by Tony Speight (Judfield Wednesday) with his 5 goals and more impressively he also picked up the Player of the Season award after receiving 6 nominations. Hugo Bowkett made it 2 awards too as he was voted the Premierships Player of the Season with 4 nominations. Well done both.

As Paradise Park gets ready for some changes at the venue we are also pleased to announce that we are adopting a pig at the local Freightliners Farm. We are delighted to be helping support the farm with our sponsorship of Tamara. Tamara is well known to Top Corner as our footballs sometimes fly over the fence and Tamara has been known to chew on a few!
Tamara having a sleep after a good chew!

We are very grateful to the farm for letting us become involved with sponsoring Tamara. I am sure the footballs entering the farm has been an inconvenience to them. The Farm will kindly be returning the footballs to referees Leo and Derek. Can I please ask you all not to enter the farm to retrieve footballs and to leave this to the referees.

After visiting the farm I can highly recomend a vist. It’s great for kids that don’t often often get the opportunity to get out of London and to see a working farm in action. Plus adults can have fun there too. Tamara (Berkshire Pig) isnt the only animal residing there – there’s bee’s, ducks, goats, chickens and rabbits to name but a few. If you would like to sponsor an animal or make a donation then please contact Liz

Holloway Women’s Indoor League
Crouch End Tigers made it 6 Top Corner titles this week and a HUGE congratulations to them for such an achievement. It is often the case that when a team keeps winning the rest of the world wants to see them fail….Take Manchester United for example….I hate them! With the Tigers though its a pleasure to watch.

The Tigers were formed after some boys bragged in the pub about a football tournament they had just played in and the barmaids, tired of their stories said anyone can play that game. The boys took them at their word and challenged the girls to come to train and form a team and so the Tigers were born. These girls who hadn’t played football before were put through their paces and with an eagerness to learn become a hungry, professional and thoroughly entertaining outfit. Obviously over the years players have come and gone and not all new recruits are new to the game but their history still remains something to be proud of. (Crouch End Tigers Pictured Below)

13th April
There was still much to be played for as the 1st game on the evening of 13th April kicked off with Alexandra Palace needing a draw or a win to seal 2nd place. They managed to do this with a 9-2 victory over Angelic Roadworkers. Zoe Tweedale the teams captain led by example with a hatrick and was named player of the match. A very well done to Alexandra Palace for securing the runners up spot and qualification to The Champions Cup. I’m sure they will be keen to go one better next season. (Alexandra Palace Pictured Below)

Next out stepped the newly crowned Champions Crouch End Tigers. With the league already in the bag the game took on an exhibition feel and the entertainment didn’t disappoint. The Warriors who earlier in the season looked in the race for 2nd place worked the Tigers hard and for a period the game seemed in the balance. The Tigers stepped up a gear as the game went on and suddenly the goals started to flow with some cracking goals and movement. The Warriors were playing their part too and a couple of wonderful strikes from Fred deserved to go in but fantastic saves from the Crouch End Tigers keeper kept her out. The Warriors did get the goal they deserved when the talented Christine Bottine let fly and found the top corner. A special mention to The Warriors keeper too for some great stops so well done Kate Everett. I’m sure The Warriors captain (fantastic in her words) Helen Cruise will feel that had Betty Boo stayed fit they may have more points on the board. (The Warriors Pictured Below After Pinching The Tigers Trophy)

The last game of the evening saw Cath’s Team play Springfield. Cath’s Team knew that 2nd place wasn’t possible now but Ali Piotrowska knew that although its a team game she was in strong position to clean up the individual awards. She didnt do her chances any harm of winning the golden boot as she scored 5 and was named woman of the match which gave her a seasons total of 5 nominations. The Tigers have players who can still catch her as they have a game to go but Ali is currently in pole position. Cath’s Team will be looking to push on next season and challenge the top 2 and Springfield will want to make sure they can keep their team together as there is talent in there and one would feel that with time the results will start to come their way. (Springfield Get To Grips With Cath’s Team)

20th April
With just 2 games to go to wrap the league up The Warriors found themselves with 2 games to play in one night. They had the top and bottom team to play and both games were a classic. Against Springfield the game was unbelievably close and the teams were tied at 4-4 with just minutes to go. The Warriors dug deep and stole the game 6-4 with the referee commenting it was a pleasure to referee the game. Crouch End Tigers had much to play for against The Warriors as individual awards were at stake as Ali Piotrowska (Cath’s Team) was ahead in the race for both the golden boot and player of the season awards. Crouch End won the game 10-5 but the goals and performances were not enough to deny Ali both the awards. Well done Ali, 30 goals in 10 games and 5 player of the match nominations.
As someone watching last week I have to say it was a pleasure to be there and witness some fantastic games and meet some lovely people. I thought the spirit and atmosphere was great and hope the new earlier kick-off times of 7pm, 7.40 and 8.20 will help add to the enjoyment.

Holloway Men’s Indoor Tuesday Spring 2010
Frank Hirth PLC not only won the league but did it in some style too. They didnt lose a single game and at times played some wonderful pass and move football. Scoring 82 and conceding only 33 was some record for just a 10 game season. Congratulations.
It was a league that wasn’t shy when it came to goals. If second placed David Ward could defend they would be dangerous! David Ward crashed 95 goals passed their opponents but leaked 51 at the other end. A great season by David Ward but harsh on Redactive Star Belgrade who were joint on points with David Ward. I am unsure there will have ever been such a goal difference separating two teams though with 46 goals keeping them apart.
Paris St Tremain flirted with gaining more points over the season while Tramps Foot United will look to the whopping 87 goals they shipped as to why they didnt finish higher in the table. Islington All Stars are an improving team with every game, they let in way too many but they can score them too which was defined perfectly in their last game of the season against Redactive when they lost 15-11!

In the individual awards it was really no surprise that the leagues top scorer would come from the free scoring David Ward. Russell Connor scored 33 which is a great return. We could do with him down at the Emerates! The leagues best player was John Bull from the champions. John received 4 nominations which meant he beat Roo Corbishley (David Ward) by 1.

The Latin Corner Indoor Thursday Spring 2010
While Arsenal are blowing the title in the Premiership, a few miles down the road at The Bridge School 7 teams are battling it out in The Latin Corner Indoor Thursday league. After 5 games Mansions and Tuffy 2 Buffy are top of the pile with maximum points. Mansions take top spot though with a superior goal difference. In 3rd place sit Hmmm Steve on 9 points followed by The Priory on 6. After that its all level with 3 Lions a kangeroo and a Coq, The PPB’s and 4Ps Marketing FC on 3 points and joint 5th or bottom depending how you look at it.
Last week Tuffy 2 Buffy got their 5th win of the season by beating 3 Lions 3-1. It was the second time in two weeks the teams had met and the week before had probably been the best game of the season so far with Tuffy just winning 6-5 after a spectcular comeback from 3 Lions. 3 Lions will be pleased that they now have Tuffy out the way and have played Mansions once too.

Mansions picked up their 5th win of the season by beating 4Ps Marketing FC for the 2nd time, scoring 26 in the two games. The top two play each other on 6th May which should be a cracking game. 4Ps need to tighten up their defence but with 1 win this season to their name they will know that they can achieve more.

The Priory and The PPB’s came head to head both needing a win after mixed starts to the season. The PPB’s are consisitently scoring goals but leaking them too. The Priory seemed to be a different team every time they enter the pitch and they too had a poor record at the back. The Priory won the contest 7-2. Both teams will be hoping to start getting more wins under their belts.
It’s no surprise that the leagues top scorer comes from the highest scoring team and that’s James Chell(Mansions) who has grabbed 9 so far this season. Matt Elmer (3 Lions) and Tommy Shelton (Mansions)are in second place with 8 goals. James Chell is also the only player in the league to have more than one man of the match nomination too. I am aware that Tuffy 2 Buffy have not registered all of their players online so these stats could change.

Holloway Women’s Indoor
![Holloway_Women's[1] Holloway_Women's[1]](http://topcornerblog.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Holloway_Womens11.jpg)
As we reach the halfway stage of the season in the Holloway Women’s Indoor Spring league it’s clear that Crouch End Tigers are the team to beat. After 5 games Crouch End have scored a sensational 70 goals. That’s an average of 14 goals per game which is some record. The good news for the chasing pack is that Crouch do concede as they have let in 17. Crouch End Tigers are certainly the bookies favourites.
Last night Crouch End Tigers continued their amazing run with a 13-1 win over Angelic Roadworkers. Angelic have now played 6 matches and taken 4 points after a 3-1 win over Springfield FC and 3-3 draw against the The Warriors. It should be noted that even though they have only 4 points from a possible 18 many of their matches have been very close indeed.
In second are Alexandra Palace who have 13 points from 6 games and are Crouch Ends closest rivals. Last night they came up against Cath’s team who were 3 points behind them so the match was a massive game for both teams who are chasing the title or the runners-up spot. The referee described this game as the match of the season so far. Alexandra Palace took a 5-2 lead and looked to be cruising towards those 3 important points but Cath’s Team had their own ideas and realising the top two would start to have quite a cushion over them they stepped up their game up and started a fantastic come back. In the end the game was a 5-5 draw with the post and crossbar both bruised! Well done to both teams for being involved in such a spectacular encounter.
![Holloway_Womens_2[1] Holloway_Womens_2[1]](http://topcornerblog.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Holloway_Womens_211.jpg)
The leagues other fixture was Springfield FC versus The Warriors. Springfield had yet to register a point from their 4 games and last night made that 5 games as they were beaten comprehensively 11-0. Springfield have conceded 44 so far this season and scored just 4 but have certainly played their part and will be hoping to step up a gear in the second half of the season. The win leaves The Warriors on 4 points but they have only played 4 games so do have a game in hand and indeed 2 games in hand on Alexander Palace and Cath’s Team. The Warriors can score goals as they have 22 already but need to tighten up their defence if they are to mount a serious challenge. The league as I suggested doesn’t tell the whole story as with their games in hand they could see themselves start to trouble the top 3.
In the individual stats its no surprise that 3 of the top 4 players leading the race for the Golden Boot are from Crouch End Tigers. Emma Broderick leads the way with 19 and is closely followed by Harriet Alcock and Helen Clarke. Ali Piotrowska (Cath’s Team) is also in double figures with 12 goals. The Player of the Season award is still very open with nobody having more than two nominations at the moment. Currently Harriet Alcock & Francesca Cagetti (Crouch End Tigers), Vicky Lowe (Alexandra Palace) and Ali Piotrowska are all tied on 2.
Talking of individuals a very well done to 4 of Crouch End Tigers players who received their awards for some goal milestones that they have reached. Helen Clarke (pictured below) received her trophy for reaching 250 goals, Harriet Alcock (also pictured) for reaching 150 and Francesca Cagetti and Yolanda Meyer reached 100 goals. Francesca and Yolanda were unable to collect their trophies on the evening so James Sparkle (pictured) the teams manager collected them on their behalf.

Islington 6-a-side Thursday

On a wet night in Paradise Park MD Munchengladbach were very proud to be crowned Champions after a classic evening of football. MD Munchengladbach started the night level on points with Surrey ARD and had a one goal superior goal difference. They knew exactly what they had to do against Alonso de Guzman, take 3 points and score as many goals as possible to put some light between themselves and Surrey ARD. Trouble was Alonso who had started the season on fire lay in 4th place in the league and were no pushover. The rain was pouring down but MD were professional and ruthless and it has to be said, played like true Champions. Phil Slade put in a great performance and along with goals from himself, Michael Deufemia, Tony Deufemia, Darren Pinnock, Oliver Mead and Phil Spain landed themselves an 11-2 victory. This was a fantastic result and meant they could hit the local in the knowledge they had done exactly what was needed of them.
This meant that Surrey ARD needed to beat Zed FC by 11 goals to draw level on goal difference with MD and then would win the league on goals scored. Zed FC had their own aspirations though as a win for them by a large margin could have meant stealing 2nd place.

Surrey started with purpose while MD watched from the sidelines and used their one player advantage to take an early lead. As Zed’s extra player arrived the game got tighter and in the end Surrey had to make do with a 5-2 victory which although a great result was not enough to give them the title but gave them 2nd place which is still a fantastic achievement.

In the individual awards Takis Gido (Alonso de Guzman FC) scored an amazing 27 goals in 10 games to land the golden boot. This will be handed out on the 1st night of the new season. The player of the season accolade was much closer though with Takis Gido, Andras Visnezki (Zed FC) and even though the stats don’s show this after consultation with the results it was proved Phil Slade of MD was also on 3 nominations. The referee was asked to decide who he felt had given the most during the season and he said Takis Gido was for him the leagues best player and so Takis will also receive this award on the 1st night of the new league.
In the other games that wrapped up the league Tuffy 2 Buffy finished their campaign by beating DCK 6-4 in a ten goal bonanza. This result meant Tuffy didn’t finish bottom of the league which will no doubt please them. ASOS who did in the end finish the season at the foot of the table lost narrowly to Curse These Metal Hands by 2 goals to 1 and Blood Sweat & Beers were beaten 4-2 by Christchurch London III in the midtable clash.
I do hope that you have all enjoyed what has been a great season to follow and congratulations again to MD Munchengladbach who not only are Champions but have qualified for the Champions Cup too.

Check out the high vis! MD with their trophies after seeing the Surrey ARD game. If anyone would like copies of the pictures just drop me a mail.
