So, the draw has been done and England have been handed the (apparently) kind group draw of USA, Algeria and Slovenia. Expect excitement and expectation to build to totally ridiculous levels over the coming months, neglecting the fact that England may well meet Germany in the next round should they progress, and we know how they usually fare there…
We wanted to flag nice and early that TCHQ will ensure that we won’t be scheduling any league football matches directly against England matches. You can be sure that your football won’t be getting in the way of your football, if you get what I mean. Dates we have so far are Saturday 12th, Friday 18th and Wednesday 23rd June.
There is a nice FIFA wallchart available as a PDF here.

After weeks of intense debate, the issue of the name of our new venue at London Bridge has finally been resolved in favour of the funky-sounding T47 Sports Venue. T47 stands for Tunnel 47, St Thomas’s Street. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.
Many thanks to Martin Hardiman for his brilliant suggestion.
The vaults beneath London Bridge station were formerly bonded warehouses, formerly used to store wine, coal, machinery, and so on. Rather than try to pretend they’re something else, we feel we should embrace this heritage. It’s a little-known fact that our venue is part of the world’s biggest viaduct – nearly 200m in width at the station and stretching out to Millwall.
Interest in T47 has been intense. From the outset we aimed at doing something different to the bog-standard football centre. Weekday evenings are going to have plenty of football, but we will also offer sports like netball, archery, basketball, handball, futsal, roller hockey and table tennis. Oh, and dodgeball!
During off peak times a London college is planning to use T47 as its indoor sports hall, and at weekend evenings it’s going to be London’s best venue for Roller Disco!

Calling all football league winners…
Top Corner’s Champions Cup is fast approaching. The event, scheduled for Saturday 12th September at the Power League in Mill Hill, is open to all Top Corner league winners over the last 12 months and, barring a small admin fee, it’s free!
So far we’ve got 22 men’s teams signed up but hope to get somewhere in the region of 40. It’s the classic format of a group stage followed by knockout rounds. Only the 4 women’s teams signed up so far but this is generally a smaller competition. We expect to get around 8 teams for this, playing an extended group stage with a final at the end of the day.
If your team have won a league between 15th August 2008 and 14th August 2009 then they are eligible for this event. A list of the qualifiers can be viewed here. Please note this list probably isn’t conclusive so if you think you’ve been missed then contact your league manager for clarification. This is an event not to be missed!
For further information about this competition and your chance to enter click here
Netball’s equivalent is in the diary for Saturday 10th October and is to be held at the Colombo Centre in Southwark. Click here for further information.

It started way back in May when the best of the Broadcast industry came together for their annual 5-a-side battle and since then we’ve been to Stamford Bridge with Right to Play, had legal teams try and argue each other off the netball court in June and seen if the toymakers could football without Subbuteo pieces. It’s been a whirlwind summer for our events team, here’s what went down in 2009.

A goal, a brace, a hatrick… We’re not sure where it goes after this but some of our players are well practiced in the art of scoring indescribable amounts of goals – our newly refurshished Top Scorers page tallies up the numbers.
The Hall of Fame has had a face lift! The list now updates automatically from the website meaning it should be fairly conclusive. Tallies and positions are refreshed daily- just as soon as results have been entered for that day. Unfortunately for men it means simply scoring 100 goals is not enough to gain entry! Movers and shakers in the new Hall of Fame include a spate of players who have just passed the 200 goal milestone – Mark Gregory (Bayern Chiswick), Grant Goodman (Retro Rovers) and James Robertson (Hill McGlynn).
