Thanks to our friends at England Netball we have a great opportunity for some of our netballers to share the court with England’s all conquering women’s team this weekend at the B-Fit Expo. The event will be taking place at the Excel Centre in Canary Wharf on 28-29th Jan 2012.
The England girls will be out on both days to keep the crowds entertained and show off the skills that made them World Champions. If you’d to come down and join the fun we have a great 2 for 1 discount for all Top Corner teams and friends. Just head over to www.b-fitexpo.co.uk to book tickets, and use the code NTB 241. Anyone booking two tickets will receive a second free. Grab a friend, come down and see what all the fuss is about.

Top Corner has teamed up with the Reebok Sports Club to deliver our first lunchtime league for the city.
The sports club is situated in Canada Square, Canary Wharf, in the heart of London’s vibrant business district. Occupying 100,000 square feet over three floors, the Reebok is one of Europe’s most exciting fitness spaces with a vast array of facilities and services.
The club has been named as ‘Britain’s Best Gym’ by Men’s Health Magazine as well as being commended as Time Out’s Most Luxurious Gym so we were delighted when they approached us about a collaborative project to develop women’s netball.
Top Corner will be lending it’s expertise and passion for netball to deliver an engaging and rewarding alternative to the your average work-out. We will provide two fully qualified umpires and all your equipment so all you’ll need to do is to pop down and play!
We will be running a FREE taster session this Friday lunch between 12.00 and 13.00 with our inaugural league to launch the following week on February 3rd. Both the taster and the league will be open to members and non-members alike who will be able to enjoy use of the changing facilities and shower.

We are happy to take on teams or individuals, guys or girls and as long as you want to enjoy yourselves and learn some new tricks I’m certain you will get something from the clinic…

FC Twente Bensons
Our annual countdown …
10. Ball’s Out
It sounds obscene, but it’s actually not … rare example of a double non-tendre?
9. PR-Tick Thistle
Public Relations may not be the most popular industry in the world, but this team is doing its bit to soften the image – putting a new ‘spin’ on the Scottish Division 1 team affectionately known as The Jags.
8. Sultans of Ping Pong
When Dire Straits proclaimed themselves the ‘Sultans of Swing’ in 1978, let’s face it: no one else was competing for the title. This team from our table tennis league takes naffness to another level.
7. Kiss My Pass
Mixed netball is a growing sport in this country (Aussies having worked out long ago that it’s a great way to get to know members of the opposite sex). Curiously, only mixed teams made our list this year … maybe they just have more fun?

T47 is the perfect venue to host a post-Christmas sports tournament – the three indoor pitches are never going to be affected by the weather and the central location at London Bridge is perfect for an evening event after work.
Events manager Andy has been hosting superb 5-a-side football and high five netball tournaments at T47 since the venue opened in 2009. In fact some tournaments have been including both football and netball, while others have had up to five different sports in the same competition. The feedback from these tournaments has been great – why not give your colleagues a company event to look forward to after Christmas that also includes the chance to keep fit that we’ll all be thinking about come January?

Brilliant value team-building exercises and excellent fun into the bargain.
There are limited dates still available in January and February – if you would like to reserve a date, discuss a tournament format or another question just email Andy or call him on 020 7036 9917.

An invitation to watch a netball match elicits one of two responses from the men in my life.
It’s either, ‘Cor, yeah, 14 fit women running around in Lycra. Yes please’ or, more commonly, a cutting comment about how rubbish netball was at school, when chubby girls in pleated skirts and baggy bibs chucked a ball around on the playground during PE lessons.
The fact is, most men would not be seen dead at a netball match. So England Netball, the sport’s governing body, launched their ‘Bring a Bloke’ campaign during last season’s Co-operative Netball Super League to tackle a problem in a sport that more than one million women and girls play every week.
Because if you can’t go home and chat about your game with your dad, brother, male friends or partner, then they can’t share something that really matters to you. Read the rest of this entry »
