Top Corner has teamed up with the Reebok Sports Club to deliver our first lunchtime league for the city.
The sports club is situated in Canada Square, Canary Wharf, in the heart of London’s vibrant business district. Occupying 100,000 square feet over three floors, the Reebok is one of Europe’s most exciting fitness spaces with a vast array of facilities and services.
The club has been named as ‘Britain’s Best Gym’ by Men’s Health Magazine as well as being commended as Time Out’s Most Luxurious Gym so we were delighted when they approached us about a collaborative project to develop women’s netball.
Top Corner will be lending it’s expertise and passion for netball to deliver an engaging and rewarding alternative to the your average work-out. We will provide two fully qualified umpires and all your equipment so all you’ll need to do is to pop down and play!
We will be running a FREE taster session this Friday lunch between 12.00 and 13.00 with our inaugural league to launch the following week on February 3rd. Both the taster and the league will be open to members and non-members alike who will be able to enjoy use of the changing facilities and shower.

Tuesday evening marked a significant piece of history for Top Corner as we launched our maiden Basketball league in Mile End.
League Manager Jen Hart has been working tirelessly behind the scenes for the last few months to ensure all was ready for our opening night and we’re delighted to report she wasn’t left disappointed as everything clicked into place. Jen has assembled a crack team of officials to deliver the best possible league and her line-up includes two hawk-eyed table officials supporting her two referees on court.
With everything in place it was great to see the teams finally playing, especially to such a high standard. Ernst & Young took home the opening night plaudits and ended up as the evenings high-scorers racking up 43 points. JP Morgan and Deloitte both scored 30 apiece and also started their campaigns with wins. Our MVPs for the night were Allan Lang (Moody’s), Richard Welch (JP Morgan) and James Farley (Deloitte). Cube Capital will play their first game next week.
We’ll leave the last word with the teams:
‘Thank you for organising the matches last night and it was really fun to play competitively in the league.’ Ernst & Young
‘We had a blast!’ Informa

The first 15 minutes of this show are worth listening to and offer some good insights into some of the very real gains netball has made over the last few years, especially in terms pushing participation. Perhaps the salient point here is that for all it’s recent grass-roots success netball still receives very little media recognition, in spite of the achievements of our national team.
Julien Worraker talks to Sascha Corbin (Current England Player) and Lyn Carpenter (Netball England) about Back to Netball and the sports drive to engage with old and new players alike.
Top Corner are now recruiting basketball referees and table officials for our new basketball leagues which are being launched this year. We are looking for friendly and reliable officials who are passionate about basketball and who will bring something special to the leagues. Top Corner really look after their officials and the rate of pay is great. Basketball officials must be qualified to at least level 2 and must be able to provide certification.
Our first basketball league is starting in January at Mile End Leisure Centre and more central London leagues are due to follow in the forthcoming months.
If you are interested in being a Top Corner basketball official and joining our team please call Jen on 0207 036 9911 or email on jen.hart@topcorner.co.uk
Not content with ruling the roost at Waterloo resident over-achievers The Skidmarks recently took on Europe and won. History tells us again and again that when separated from the comforts of kebab and karaoke our native teams tend to struggle on the continent, no longer can this be said with any certainty. In truth, this was the greatest English victory since ‘Katrina and the Waves’ shocked the world in 1997. With 7 wins in 7 games the old adage remains true, skidmarks cannot be denied. Special congrats to Luke Hatfield who moves above Pele in the all-time scorers list after notching his 14th major tournament strike*

This year’s annual Top Corner Netball Champions Cup was the biggest and best to date. With 12 ladies teams and 12 mixed teams competing for their respective Cups, we had a full house and took over the netball courts at Waterloo’s GMH Park.
In the Ladies Cup the contenders consisted of the strongest teams from across the Top Corner leagues from the past year. The mixed contenders consisted of a combination of established Top Corner mixed teams and a wide and wonderful mix including a football team I convinced to turn into a netball team for the day, groups of friends and colleagues and former Top Corner mixed teams. My particular thanks to new mixed teams Top Dogs, Hot Dogs, 50p You’re Having a Laugh, Team Penguins, The Seven Dwarves, Crazy Banana Boys and The Killers who in some cases have never played netball in their lives! The day began in an energetic fashion with teams arriving bright and early to warm up and talk tactics.
