Thanks to our friends at England Netball we have a great opportunity for some of our netballers to share the court with England’s all conquering women’s team this weekend at the B-Fit Expo. The event will be taking place at the Excel Centre in Canary Wharf on 28-29th Jan 2012.

The England girls will be out on both days to keep the crowds entertained and show off the skills that made them World Champions. We wanted to let you know about some exciting netball league opportunities we have coming up in February. We currently have a few spaces left in the Southwark ladies league spring 2012 season:

Southwark Division 1 Tuesday – starting Tuesday 7th February – 1 space

Southwark Division 2 Tuesday - starting Tuesday 7th February – 1 space

Southwark Division 3 Wednesday – starting Wednesday 8th February – 1 space

Our Southwark league is our biggest netball league with 5 divisions. It always proves popular and being a promotion and relegation league, it’s always exciting to be part of.

Our Southwark courts are in a great location; they are only a short walk from Southwark and Waterloo underground stations.

Top Corner has teamed up with the Reebok Sports Club to deliver our first lunchtime league for the city.

The sports club is situated in Canada Square, Canary Wharf, in the heart of London’s vibrant business district. Occupying 100,000 square feet over three floors, the Reebok is one of Europe’s most exciting fitness spaces with a vast array of facilities and services.

The club has been named as ‘Britain’s Best Gym’ by Men’s Health Magazine as well as being commended as Time Out’s Most Luxurious Gym so we were delighted when they approached us about a collaborative project to develop women’s netball.

Top Corner will be lending it’s expertise and passion for netball to deliver an engaging and rewarding alternative to the your average work-out. We will provide two fully qualified umpires and all your equipment so all you’ll need to do is to pop down and play!

We will be running a FREE taster session this Friday lunch between 12.00 and 13.00 with our inaugural league to launch the following week on February 3rd. Both the taster and the league will be open to members and non-members alike who will be able to enjoy use of the changing facilities and shower.

Top Corner is delighted to announce that our hugely popular Black Prince Road leagues are finally set to resume this February.

Set within Lilian Baylis Old School (LBOS) on a fantastic 4G surface, the newly revamped Vauxhall 7 a-side leagues promise to be London’s finest small sided footballing experience. This is the league for both pass-masters and cloggers alike as our huge pitch caters to all football styles and makes for some fascinating match-ups.

Last summer’s competition was a great success and the past few months have seen huge improvements works taking place which will bring facilities on par with the very best venues in London.

Initially we will offer shortened seasons with a change in format to taking place over the summer when we hope to run a tiered divisional structure incorporating a Premier League, Championship, League One and Conference.

Our starter shortened seasons are slated to begin the week of February 13^th, and will run as follows:

• Vauxhall Monday 7 a-side League – starting Feb. 13^th
• Vauxhall Tuesday 7 a-side – starting Feb. 14^th
• Vauxhall Prem/Champ 7 a-side – starting Feb 15^th & 16^th

There is further detail on pricing and games times on the website and I’m pleased to say that there will be no increase in costs for the season meaning we will continue to offer 45 minute games at an outstanding £60 (inc VAT). Get your applications in to avoid disappointment.

As we cast an eye into the 2012 and beyond we have a couple of league opportunities I’d like to draw your attention to:

Our Waterloo league is long established and always proved popular so the upcoming the winter season represents a rare opportunity to get a place in our of our benchmark leagues.

Our Hoxton league is situated just behind Kingsland Road in thriving creative and commercial heart of East London. We have state-of-the-art facilities at our disposal and perhaps more importantly an indoor court for the chilly days ahead.

Not content with ruling the roost at Waterloo resident over-achievers The Skidmarks recently took on Europe and won. History tells us again and again that when separated from the comforts of kebab and karaoke our native teams tend to struggle on the continent, no longer can this be said with any certainty. In truth, this was the greatest English victory since ‘Katrina and the Waves’ shocked the world in 1997. With 7 wins in 7 games the old adage remains true, skidmarks cannot be denied. Special congrats to Luke Hatfield who moves above Pele in the all-time scorers list after notching his 14th major tournament strike*

to enter Top Corner’s first Corporate Basketball League in Mile End.  There is only ONE PLACE LEFT in London’s only exclusive Corporate Basketball League.  Six big names in the business world have already signed up and are raring to get playing in the league which kicks off at Mile End Leisure Centre on Tuesday 17th January 2012.

The league will take place every Tuesday night from 6.30-8.30pm over 14 weeks.  The league is going to be fully officiated by two referees and two table officials and managed by a full time Basketball League Manager so you can be assured the league will run smoothly and professionally so that all you have to do is turn up and play!

Last night saw the first of Top Corner’s two Christmas awards night this month at Biagio’s just off London’s Southbank.  Football and netball teams from across a wide range of London leagues came together to be presented with their trophies and medals from Summer and Autumn 2011 seasons.  Dellview Carolina in particular had a great night picking up a massive six awards.  A big congratulations to all teams who picked up trophies last night.

Once the awards had been presented, teams didn’t waste any time mingling, getting in the shots and busting some moves on the dance floor.  I am sure there will be a few sore heads today!

We are now down to our last few places for our Vauxhall leagues over at LBTS. All evenings are now full with the exception of Tuesday so this represents a great opportunity to get involved with a football league for the winter. Games at Vauxhall are 40 minutes and kick-off times are 19.05, 19.45 and 20:25 respectively. We play a 12 games season across 14 weeks with the league kicking off from November 22^nd. There’s some information to be found here and anyone joining the league will receive a free game discount from their season’s fees.
